Kyu Kumite

Kyu Kumite (Five Point)

  • Kyu Kumite is introduced at the white belt level.
  • It should always be practiced with perfect form.
  • Kyu Kumite is one of the required events for the Green Belt test

The attacker and defender reverse roles after each of the five points.

ATTACKER DEFENDER
1. Right reverse punch off back foot. Left circular block, right circular block.
Left reverse punch off back foot. Right reverse punch to ribs.
2. Left reverse punch off back foot. Right inside circular block.
Right reverse punch off back foot. Left palm heal block.
Right reverse punch to chest.
3. Left reverse punch off back foot. Right palm heel block.
Right reverse punch off back foot. Right circular block while sliding back to the left.Right front kick to ribs.
4. Right thrusting side kick to mid-section. Left inside forearm block scooping under the kick. Toss kick to left with completed circular block.
Left crescent kick. Block crescent kick with right arm raised and right leg raised.
Right shuto. Block crescent kick with right arm raised and right leg raised.
Block shuto with high left arm block. Horse stance, grabbing attacker with left hand, right elbow strike, right riken.
5. Right punch without step. Left circular block.
Right front kick off back foot. Left downward kiyuki block.
Left crescent kick, right crescent kick. Right crescent kick block, left crescent kick block.Trap the second crescent kick and swing attacker around. Grab shoulder with left hand, reverse punch to back of head.
